Rumors have circulated in recent months that Facebook might be working on launching a jobs board. Online resources have become increasingly useful for job seekers through the past several years, but of course there are other sites like LinkedIn that already offer resources for job seekers in a social type setting. Would a Facebook Jobs Board really take off? How many users might be interested and how many already use similar services?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 86% of respondents said they currently have a Facebook account. And just 28% said they have an account on LinkedIn. 36% of current job seekers said they have a LinkedIn account, while 83% said they have a Facebook account.
33% of US respondents said they are currently looking for a job. 17% said they have looked for a job within the past year. 18% said they have looked for a job within the past five years. 8% said they have looked for a job within the past ten years. And 24% said they haven’t looked for a job in over ten years.
Overall, 57% of respondents said that if they were looking for a job today, they would definitely use online resources to help with their search. Another 30% said they would probably use online resources to help with their job search. 9% said they probably would not use online resources. And just 5% said they would definitely not use online resources. Of those who are currently looking for jobs, 72% said they definitely use online resources to help with their search.
Facebook Jobs Board
23% of respondents said they would definitely be interested in using a job board provided by Facebook. Another 38% said they would probably use a Facebook jobs board. 26% said they would probably not use it. And 14% said they would definitely not use a Facebook jobs board. Current job seekers were just slightly more likely to be interested in the jobs board.
