Google is working at updating some features for Google Maps, including the ability to access maps on the go without an internet connection. Is this a feature that interests many consumers? How many currently use Google Maps, and how many still use paper maps versus mobile mapping technology when traveling?
Google Maps
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 25% of respondents said they often use Google Maps on their computer. 39% said they use Google Maps sometimes. 16% have done so once or twice. And just 20% of respondents said they’ve never used Google Maps.
In addition, 22% of US consumers said they’ve used Google Maps on their smartphone or mobile device. 5% said they’ve used other mobile map programs. 14% have a GPS. And 60% don’t use any mobile map technology.
Paper Maps
Alternatively, 8% of respondents said they often use paper maps while traveling. 31% said they sometimes use paper maps. And 22% have used paper maps once or twice. 39% of respondents said they never use paper maps while traveling.
Offline Maps
Since many Americans don’t have mobile map technology, many continue to use paper maps while traveling. 34% of consumers said they would definitely be interested in using a version of Google Maps that works without an internet connection. 35% of respondents said they might be interested in such a feature. And 31% said they are not interested at all.
