Mobile Videos Survey: Videos Most Commonly Watched at Home

With the rise in mobile technology, consumers are using their phones and similar devices instead of more traditional technology for more and more things, including watching videos. What are the habits surrounding these mobile videos? Where do people usually watch, and what types of videos are most popular with these viewers?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 20% of respondents said that they often watch videos on their cell phone, iPod, or other types of mobile devices. Another 23% said that they sometimes watch mobile videos. 15% said they rarely do. And 43% said they never watch videos on their mobile devices.

Of those who watch mobile videos, 67% said that they use their cell phones to do so. 38% said they watch videos on their tablet. 25% use an iPod or MP3 player. And 17% said they use portable gaming devices.

Viewing Locations

82% of consumers who watch mobile videos said that they do so while at home. 30% said they use their mobile devices to watch videos while they’re in cars or public transportation. 23% watch mobile videos while at work or school. 22% said they watch videos while they’re out with family and friends. And 6% said they watch mobile videos in other situations, such as in waiting rooms or airports.

Types of Videos

So what types of videos are most likely to be watched on these mobile devices? 66% said that they regularly watch short funny videos on their mobile devices. 48% said they watch music videos. 41% watch movie trailers. 25% watch tutorials or instructional videos. And 19% said they use their mobile devices to watch other types of videos, such as TV shows or news broadcasts.
