Last week, Pinterest announced the release of new business accounts, similar to Facebook’s brand pages. Many businesses already use the site, but the new accounts could allow them to become more trusted voices. How do social media users feel about businesses using these types of sites? And how many interact with business accounts?
Pinterest Business Accounts
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 29% of overall respondents said they currently have a Pinterest account. Of those users, 30% said they follow many businesses, brands, or bloggers on the site. 34% said they follow one or two of their favorite brands on Pinterest. And 37% of Pinterest users said they don’t follow any brands on the site.
Social Media Users
In general, 82% of respondents said they use social media sites. And of those users, 36% said they follow many businesses or brands on those sites. Another 36% said they follow just one or two of their favorite businesses on those sites. And just 28% of social media users said they don’t follow or connect with any businesses or brands on those sites. Of those who use Pinterest, 64% said they follow many businesses or brands on other social media sites.
As for how these businesses impact social media users, 44% said they think businesses improve the user experience on social media sites. Just 6% said they think businesses have a negative impact on the user experience. And 49% said that businesses don’t impact the user experience for them one way or the other.
61% of Pinterest users said they believe businesses have a positive impact on the user experience of social media. 8% said they think businesses negatively impact the user experience. And 31% said they don’t impact the user experience at all.
