Last week, Apple made the much-anticipated announcement about its first smart watch. The Apple Watch is intended to connect with the user’s iPhone and work with apps much like a wearable smartphone. It’s not the first smart watch or wearable tech devices, but none of the other devices have been widely adopted just yet. So how many are interested in purchasing Apple’s version?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 64% of respondents said they have already heard about the new Apple Watch. 10% said they are definitely interested in purchasing the Apple Watch when it is released. 18% said they’d probably be interested in owning the new Apple Watch. 37% said they probably would not be interested. And 36% said they’re definitely not interested in the Apple Watch.
Of those who are not interested in the Apple Watch, just 2% said they are definitely interested in owning another type of smart watch. 10% said they would probably be interested in owning another type of smart watch. 49% said they probably would not be interested in owning any type of smart watch. And 39% said they are definitely not interested in smart watches in general. None of them currently own a smart watch.
In general, 23% of respondents said they own multiple Apple products. 23% said they currently own one Apple product. 13% have owned Apple products in the past but don’t anymore. And 41% said they’ve never owned any Apple products. Of those who currently own at least one Apple product, 42% said they might be interested in the new Apple Watch. And since the watch requires connection with an iPhone, this is the company’s target customer for this product anyway.
