Bacon Survey: Oscar Meyer, Hormel Chosen as Top Brands

Today is National Bacon Day. And since bacon is such a popular food item that can be included in plenty of different meals and dishes, there’s likely to be plenty of people enjoying bacon in some way, whether it’s because of the holiday or just because they like it. So how many people enjoy eating bacon regularly? And what are their favorite types and brands to enjoy?


Bacon Fans

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 74% of respondents said they have a generally positive opinion of bacon. 21% said they even eat bacon at least once a week. 25% eat it a few times per month. 18% eat it about once per month. 16% said they eat bacon just once or twice per year. 11% rarely ever eat it. And 10% never do.

In general, 20% said they eat bacon more often now than they did five years ago. But 36% eat it less often now than they did in the past. And 44% said they eat it about the same amount.

Types of Dishes

There are, of course, many different ways that people can enjoy bacon. The most popular way, according to respondents, is alongside other popular breakfast foods. 70% said they normally eat bacon with eggs or other breakfast items. 44% eat it on burgers or sandwiches. 35% like it just on its own. 23% eat it in salads. 13% like it in pasta. And 16% enjoy bacon in other types of dishes.

Favorite Brands

There are also plenty of different stores, brands and restaurants that people can choose for all of their bacon needs. The top brands, according to respondents, are Oscar Meyer, Hormel and Smithfeild. Popular stores include Walmart and Kroger. And popular restaurants include IHOP, Wendy’s, McDonald’s and Denny’s.
