Cats Survey: Dogs Slightly More Popular

Hug Your Cat Day is just a few days away. There’s long been a rift between cat people and dog people. But there are plenty of people who own or like both cats and dogs. And there are also plenty of different stores and brands that serve pet owners of all kinds. So how many people are likely to celebrate Hug Your Cat Day? And how do dog and cat owners compare?

Cat People

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 21% of respondents said they consider themselves to be cat people. 37% say they are more likely to be considered dog people. 15% consider themselves to be a little of both. And 27% said they aren’t either.

Pet Owners

Currently, 33% of respondents said they own cats. 36% own dogs. 9% said they own other types of pets such as fish, hamsters and birds. And 40% of respondents don’t currently own any pets.

But looking forward, 41% of respondents said they are likely to own cats in the future. 51% said they’re likely to own dogs in the future. And 24% said they’re likely to own other types of pets.

Pet Brands

Whether you’re a cat person, dog person or partial to some other kind of animal, there are plenty of different pet stores and brands that provide various necessities and other items for pets. Respondents named PetSmart, Petco, Purina, Iams, and Friskies as their favorite brands for pet related products.
