Chocolate Survey: More Than Half Likely to Purchase Halloween Chocolates

Today is National Chocolate Day. And with Halloween taking place later in the week as well, it’s definitely one of the most popular times of year for people to stock up on their favorite chocolate candy and other treats. So just how many people consider themselves to be big chocolate fans? And how many are likely to stock up on their favorite treats this Halloween?


Chocolate Fans

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 85% of respondents said that they generally enjoy eating chocolate. In fact, 5% said they usually eat chocolate multiple times a day. 14% eat it pretty much every day. 32% do so a few times per week. 19% do about once per week. 18% just eat chocolate a few times per month. 9% said they rarely ever eat it. And just 2% never do.

Favorite Brands

When it comes to specific brands, Hershey’s was overwhelmingly named the top chocolate provider. Other candy brands mentioned by respondents include Snicker’s, Kit Kat, Reese’s, Three Musketeers and Twix. There were also a few higher end chocolate brands mentioned, including Godiva, Ghirardelli, Lindt and Dove. And a few people mentioned other types of chocolate providers like Nestle.

Halloween Buyers

This time of year is traditionally one of the most popular for chocolate sales. 59% of respondents said that they are likely to purchase chocolate candy or similar items for Halloween this year. Just 24% said they are unlikely to do so. And 17% are still neutral or undecided.
