Cookie Survey: People Buy More Cookies Over the Holidays

Today is National Cookie Day. It’s also the holiday season, a time when many people tend to bake themed desserts and serve cookies at family gatherings. As one of the most loved desserts, cookies come in so many different forms and from so many different brands. So what are the most popular brands? And how often do people typically buy them?

Cookie Buyers

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 16% of respondents said they buy cookies or cookie ingredients at least once per week. 22% buy cookies a few times per month. 23% buy them about once per month. 19% said they only buy cookies or ingredients a few times per year. 16% said they rarely ever buy cookies or ingredients. And just 4% said they never do.Of those buyers, 63% said they normally buy pre-made cookies. 30% buy ingredients to make cookies from scratch. Another 30% buy cookie dough. And 19% said they normally buy mix.

Cookie Brands

Out of seven popular cookie brands, people seem to like Oreo the best. 33% of respondents said that Oreo is their favorite cookie brand of the choices provided. After that, Chips Ahoy and Nestle Tollhouse were selected as favorites. People listed Famous Amos and Mrs. Fields near the middle of the pack. And Fig Newtons and Keebler cookies were most likely to be placed lower than the other brands.

Cookie Habits

53% of respondents said that cookies are one of their favorite food groups. 61% said that they normally buy the same type and brand of cookies on a regular basis. And 68% said they normally buy cookies or ingredients more often during the holiday season. That’s likely at least partially due to the 47% who often serve cookies at parties or gatherings.
