Ice Cream Floats Survey: Root Beer and Vanilla Still Classic Favorites

Today is Ice Cream Soda Day. Ice cream sodas and floats can be made with a huge variety of different soda and ice cream flavors. But fans of the dessert beverage can also choose to order it already prepared from restauants or ice cream shops. So how many people are likely to enjoy an ice cream float on this holiday? And what are their favorite ingredients for these classic floats?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 69% of respondents said they have a positive opinion of ice cream floats. Just 9% do not like them. And 22% are neutral about them. However, even though people tend to like ice cream floats, 31% said they rarely ever eat or drink them. And 16% never do. Just 4% enjoy ice cream floats at least once per week. 5% do so a few times per month. 10% have them about once per month. 28% said they enjoy ice cream sodas a few times per year. And 7% enjoy them just about once a year.

Eating Habits

Of those who enjoy ice cream floats, 18% said they only ever have them during the summer months. 43% said they enjoy floats more often during the summer. 37% said they enjoy floats throughout the entire year. And just 3% said they actually enjoy ice cream floats less often during the summer months. 17% of those who enjoy floats said they only ever have them when they make them at home. 26% said they usually make ice cream floats in their own home. 33% make them at home sometimes and order them at restaurants or ice cream shops sometimes. 17% said they usually just order them from restaurants or ice cream shops. And 7% said they only ever order them from restaurants or ice cream shops.

Favorite Ingredients

When it comes to making floats, there are so many different soda and ice cream flavors that people can choose from. However, root beer seems to be the overwhelming favorite type of soda for ice cream floats. The most popular root beer brands for floats include A&W, Barq’s and Mug. Other types of soda mentioned include Coca Cola, Pepsi, Sprite and Dr. Pepper.In terms of ice cream, Vanilla was the stand out favorite flavor. The top brands for ice cream to include in floats include Breyers, Blue Bunny and Edy’s. Other flavors mentioned include chocolate, strawberry and cookies and cream.
