Napping Survey: Most Appreciate Benefits of Napping

Getting enough sleep is important to maintaining good health and productivity throughout the day. But not everyone has enough time to get the recommended amount of sleep each night. That’s where napping comes in. Yesterday was National Napping Day, to promote recuperation from the daylight saving switchover, so those people who love to take naps can celebrate by taking a rest in the middle of the day. How many people enjoy taking naps? And how does napping correlate with nightly sleeping habits?

Sleep Habits

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, just 4% of respondents said they get nine or more hours of sleep each night. 18% said they get about eight hours of sleep on an average night. 25% get about seven hours of sleep a night. 24% said they usually get about six hours of sleep. 12% get five hours of sleep a night. 7% get four hours of sleep or less a night. And 12% said their sleep habits always vary from night to night. But one thing most people have in common is that they would like to be able to sleep more. 65% said they wish they had the time to sleep more at night.

Napping

But naps can help people get the sleep they need if they don’t have enough time to do so at night. 10% of respondents said they nap every day. 25% said they usually nap a few times per week. 14% nap about once per week. 11% said they take naps a few times per month. 3% just nap about once per month. 29% said they rarely ever take naps. And 9% never do.In general, 70% of respondents said they enjoy taking naps. 79% think they can be beneficial for both health and energy. And 72% said they wish they were able to take more naps.

Sleep Importance

Lack of sleep can have all kinds of negative effects. 86% of respondents said that lack of sleep can negatively impact their concentration or memory. 84% said that lack of sleep can negatively impact their mood.
