Pizza Party Survey: Large Chains Rule the Pizza Market

Today is National Pizza Party Day. So if you weren’t already planning on it, it could be the perfect day to head to your favorite local pizzeria or throw some of your own pizza in the oven. Pizza is certainly considered to be a favorite food group among many Americans. So what types of pizza would they most like to enjoy at their next pizza party?

Pizza Opinions

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 82% of respondents said they have a favorable opinion of pizza. Just 5% said they dislike pizza. And 13% are neutral about it. But even though the majority of people enjoy pizza, just 1% said they eat it every day. 6% eat pizza a few times per week. 20% said they usually eat pizza about once per week. 34% eat it a few times per month. 28% said they usually eat pizza about once per month. 9% rarely eat pizza. And just 2% said they never do.

Pizza Types

Of course, there are plenty of different types of places where people can go for their regular pizza fix. Quick service and delivery pizza places are at the top of consumers’ list. 40% of pizza fans said that pizza from delivery or quick service pizzerias is their favorite kind of pizza. 34% prefer pizza from gourmet pizza restaurants. 21% enjoy homemade pizza more. And just 5% prefer store-bought pizza that can be prepared in the oven. As far as toppings are concerned, people seem to enjoy the basics. 60% said they like pepperoni on their pizza, and another 60% like extra cheese. 52% like mushrooms. 49% like peppers. Another 49% like sausage on their pizza. 48% like onions. 44% like bacon. 34% like ham. Just 10% like anchovies. And 18% like other pizza toppings such as olives and pineapples.

Pizza Brands

In terms of restaurants, people like getting their pizza from Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Papa John’s, and Little Ceasars. And in terms of store bought pizza brands, consumers like Tombstone, Red Baron, Totino’s, and Freschetta.
