Weigh-ins Survey: Tracking Progress Important for Reaching Goals

Today is National Weigh-In Day. It’s also one of the most popular days of the year for Americans to weigh-in, since it’s the first Monday after New Year’s Day. As many people work on their new year’s resolutions of getting in shape or losing weight, weighing in might play a big role. So how often do people normally weigh themselves? And do they consider it a big part of their resolutions?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 11% of respondents said they weigh themselves daily. 10% weigh themselves a few times per week. 11% weigh themselves about once per week. 13% said they weigh themselves a few times per month. 10% weigh themselves about once per month. 32% said they rarely ever weigh themselves. And 13% never do.

Health Goals

In general, 55% of respondents said they’re currently trying to lose weight. 46% said they exercise regularly. 54% said they are careful about what they eat. And just 15% said they are currently on an official diet plan.

Measuring Goals

So where do weigh-ins fit in when it comes to people’s health and fitness goals? Just 21% of respondents said they don’t think that weigh-ins are important for reaching their goals. 22% were neutral.
