Worker Satisfaction Survey: Pay, Benefits Most Important to Employees

Today is Companies That Care Day, an annual holiday aimed at celebrating companies that provide a positive work experience for their employees and encouraging more companies to do the same. There are many different factors that can contribute to overall worker satisfaction. So how do the majority of employees feel about how they are treated in the workplace?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 26% of respondents gave their employer a 10 out of 10 rating when it comes to treating their employees well. Just 18% gave their employer a rating of 5 stars or lower. And the majority of respondents fell between 5 and 10, though no one ranking was more popular than 10.When you break down the different factors that might impact workplace happiness, 63% said they are satisfied with their current workload. 65% said they are satisfied with their work environment. Just 47% said they are satisfied with their pay and benefits. And 62% said they are satisfied with their work hours.

Types of Employment

Overall, 57% of respondents said they have one full time job. 22% work part time. 13% said they are self-employed or own their own business. 4% work multiple jobs. And 2% work freelance jobs or telecommute.Those who work full time were just as likely as the overall panel to be very satisfied at work. But they were 21% more likely to be satisfied with their pay and benefits. Part time workers were 5% less likely to be very satisfied overall. And those who work non-traditional jobs or multiple jobs were 9% more likely to be satisfied at work.

Happiness Factors

When determining how satisfied they are at work, employees are likely to weigh some factors more heavily than others. 49% of respondents ranked pay and benefits as the most important factor to their workplace satisfaction. Work environment and workload were seen as moderately important.
