Earth Day Survey: Customers More Likely to Support Green Brands

It’s Earth Day, the annual holiday aimed at celebrating the earth and doing our best to take care of it. Some popular earth friendly activities that people might take part in to celebrate Earth Day include recycling and cleaning up local parks or green areas. So how many people plan on celebrating Earth Day this year? And how many consider themselves to be environmentally conscious throughout the year?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 59% of respondents said they consider themselves to be at least somewhat environmentally conscious. More specifically, 64% said that they recycle regularly. And 27% said that they usually do something to celebrate Earth Day.

This year, 21% of respondents said that they are at least somewhat likely to celebrate Earth Day in some way. The most popular activity that people plan to take part in seems to be recycling. 60% of those respondents said that they plan to recycle in honor of Earth Day this year. 46% said they are likely to plant a tree. Another 46% plan to clean up a park or green area. 40% said they plan to purchase earth friendly products in honor of Earth Day. And 7% are likely to take part in other types of celebrations, like conserving electricity or attending organized events.

Eco-Friendly Business

Businesses can also take part in earth friendly activities on Earth Day and throughout the rest of the year. 57% of respondents said that they are more likely to buy from businesses if those businesses sell products made from recycled or recyclable materials. 55% are likely to support businesses that cut down on waste or pollution in their manufacturing processes. 43% are likely to support businesses that donate to environmental causes. 47% like when businesses take part in global preservation efforts. And 51% like when businesses support local clean up or greening efforts. When it comes to green companies, respondents named Seventh Generation, Method, Subaru and Toyota as some of their favorites.
