Facebook is currently testing a new feature that would allow businesses to list products for sale directly on their Facebook pages. Plenty of consumers already use Facebook to connect with their favorite brands and businesses. So hosting a virtual store on the site could be beneficial. How many Facebook users would like to be able to shop on the site? And how many already use it to connect with businesses?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 85% of respondents said they currently have a Facebook account. Of those respondents, 26% said they don’t like or follow any business pages on the site. 24% like less than 5 business pages. 17% like between 5 and 9 businesses. 14% like between 10 and 19 business pages. And 19% said they like 20 or more business pages on Facebook.
In general, 42% of Facebook users said they like to connect with their favorite brands on the platform. However, just 27% said they have made purchases because of posts they’ve seen on Facebook business pages. And another 22% said that they’ve made purchases because of Facebook ads.
However, the new feature could make those purchases even easier for Facebook users. So it could increase the amount of purchases that people make because of brand pages and/or ads on Facebook. 29% of Facebook users said they would be likely to make purchases directly on Facebook brand pages if given that opportunity. 41% said they would be unlikely to do so. And 30% were neutral or unsure at this point.
