Facebook Sports Survey: Few Interested in Using New Feature

Facebook is currently testing a new feature that would potentially improve the experience for sports fans. Users would have the opportunity to look at updates about their favorite teams or the games they’re currently watching. At the moment, the feature is only for American football, but the site has plans to expand it in the future. So how many sports fans like the idea of using a Facebook sports feature?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 43% of respondents said that they consider themselves to be sports fans. 32% said that they often read about or watch sports related content online. And just 21% said that they like to connect with other sports fans online.

Overall, 82% of respondents said they currently have a Facebook account. However, just 24% of Facebook users said that they would be interested in using a feature that lets them see sports related updates and connect with other sports fans. 63% said they would be unlikely to use such a feature. And 13% were neutral at this point.

Popular Subjects

In general, 47% of respondents said that they enjoy watching American football. 32% said they like basketball. 31% like baseball. 15% like hockey. 15% like soccer. Another 15% said they like other kinds of sports such as Nascar, golf and boxing. 31% said they don’t enjoy watching any sports.
