Google Maps Survey: Majority Interested in New Maps Feature

Google has just announced a new feature for its Google Maps mobile apps that will give users real-time updates about traffic along their routes. There are many different maps programs and devices that drivers can use on the go or on their computers. How popular is Google Maps compared to other programs? And are users interested in this new feature?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 29% of respondents said that they often use Google Maps. 40% said they sometimes use Google Maps. 19% rarely use Google Maps. And just 13% have never used it. 84% Google Maps users have used the online version, and just 38% have used the mobile apps.

44% of Google Maps users said they are very satisfied with it. 50% said they are somewhat satisfied. Just 4% said they are somewhat unsatisfied. And 1% are very unsatisfied. Mobile users were 10% more likely to be very satisfied with Google Maps.

Other Maps

Just 15% of overall respondents said they use mobile maps apps other than Google Maps. 28% said they use other online maps programs. 28% have GPS devices or other dedicated maps devices. And 38% said they don’t use any maps programs other than Google Maps. Google Maps users were just as likely as others to use other types of programs in addition to Google Maps.

Traffic Feature

In general, 36% of respondents said they would definitely be interested in a maps feature that would notify them of traffic along their route. 38% said they would probably be interested in such a feature. 19% said they would probably not be interested. And only 7% said they would definitely not be interested. Those who already use Google Maps were 5% more likely to be interested in the traffic feature.
