Technology has worked its way into nearly all aspects of everyday life, including health. The amount of health related apps available has increased greatly over the past few years. But how many have actually begun using these health apps? And have they noticed any results?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 8% of respondents said that they often use health related apps, either on desktop or mobile devices. 19% said they sometimes use these types of apps. Another 19% said they rarely use them. And 55% have never used health related apps. Usage of these apps has increased slightly over the past several months. In a September 2013 survey, just 40% had used health related apps.
The most popular type of app within the health category was fitness; 49% of those who have used health apps said they’ve used those related to fitness. 41% have used general health apps. 31% have used diet apps. 20% have used disease related apps. And 6% have used other types of health apps, such as pharmacy or medication apps.
Just 11% of those who have used health apps said they have noticed a significant impact on their overall health. 51% think that health apps have somewhat impacted their health. 34% said their health apps haven’t had much of an impact on their health. And 4% said their health apps have not had any impact on their health at all. Those who have used diet and fitness apps were most likely to notice results. Those who use general health apps were least likely to say that apps have impacted their health.
In general, just 26% of respondents said they are very concerned with health issues. 51% said they are somewhat health concerned. 17% said they are not very concerned about health. And 6% said they are not concerned at all. Those who are concerned about health issues were only 3% more likely to have used health related apps.
