Hulu Survey: Hulu Most Popular for Basic Online Video Streaming

Video streaming service Hulu is up for sale, and many large companies, including Yahoo, have expressed interest. Hulu has been popular for video streaming for years, with both its basic site and premium service Hulu Plus. How many consumers currently utilize Hulu’s services? And how has video streaming impacted their other activities?


Hulu Services

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 29% of respondents said that they have used to stream TV shows and movies online. And 7% said that they currently subscribe to Hulu Plus. More consumers currently subscribe to other premium streaming services like Netflix (25%) and Amazon Prime (12%). But fewer consumers, 21%, said that they have streamed TV shows or movies online for free using sites other than Hulu.

TV Viewers

These streaming services and sites have undoubtedly affected the way some Americans are entertained. 17% of respondents said that video streaming has very much impacted the amount of TV they watch. 19% said streaming has somewhat impacted their TV watching habits. And 64% said it hasn’t had an impact at all.

Movie Viewers

On the other hand, 17% said that video streaming has very much impacted how often they go to the movies or purchase DVDs. Another 20% said that video streaming has somewhat impacted their movie watching habits. And 63% said it hasn’t impacted them at all. Those who subscribe to paid streaming services were slightly more likely to say that their TV and movie watching habits have been impacted than those who just stream videos online.
