The long awaited release of the iPad Pro is finally here. The high-end tablet offers many of the features of both tablets and laptops, making it a sort of hybrid device to challenge other big names in the market like the Microsoft Surface device. So how many consumers are interested in a laptop tablet hybrid? And how many are likely to choose the new iPad Pro?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 51% of respondents said that they currently own a tablet. There are plenty of popular activities that those respondents use their tablets for. 58% said they use their tablets for playing games. 57% use them to watch video. 46% read news or blogs on their tablet devices. 41% use them to listen to music or podcasts. 28% use them for various work or schoolwork. 25% use them for taking or editing photos or video. And 17% use them for other things, such as checking email and using social media.
On the other hand, 71% of respondents said they currently own laptops. And while some of the common activities varied a bit, there were a lot of similarities. 54% said they use their laptops for watching video. 51% use them for reading news or blogs. 49% use them for various work or schoolwork. 43% said they listen to music or podcasts on their laptops. 41% use them for playing games. 27% use them for taking or editing photos or video. And 21% use them for other things, such as checking email and paying bills.
In general, 49% of respondents said they would be interested in owning a device that offers some of the features of a tablet and some of the features of a laptop. And 7% of respondents said they’ve already purchased an iPad Pro. However, it doesn’t look like those numbers are likely to grow a whole lot within the next year. Just 11% of respondents said they would be likely to purchase an iPad Pro within the next year.
