Klout Moments Survey: Not All Klout Users Care About Gaining Social Influence

Social influence site Klout recently underwent a redesign and completely changed the way it measures influence. Social media users that have accounts on the site have been able to view their influence as a numerical score that accounted for things like number of Facebook friends and Twitter followers, but now Klout dives deeper into the score and points out some of its users’ most influential posts. Do social media users really care about their social influence? And how many of them would benefit from Klout’s new system?


Social Media Users

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 96% of social media users said they have a Facebook account. 57% have a YouTube account. 45% have a Twitter account. 27% use Google+. 20% use Pinterest. 18% use LinkedIn. 9% use Tumblr. And 10% use other social media sites.

Social Influence

Overall, just 7% of social media users have an account with Klout. Another 2% have an account with a similar site that measures social influence. But 91% of social media users do not have an account with Klout or any similar site. Twitter users were more than twice as likely to have signed up for Klout. 16% of Google+ users have signed up with Klout, and 18% of LinkedIn users also use Klout.

Only 12% of social media users said they really care about how much influence they have over others in their online network. Another 34% said they somewhat care about their social influence. And 55% said they don’t care about their social influence at all. 28% of Klout users said they really care about their social influence, and another 55% said they somewhat care about it.

Klout Moments

With the new Klout features, users will be able to see some of their most influential posts so they can determine what is working for them and what isn’t. 20% of social media users said they would definitely be interested in learning about which of their posts have the most social impact. And another 39% said they might be interested in learning which of their posts have the most impact. 62% of Klout users said they are definitely interested in this feature, and another 35% said they might be interested in it.
