As mobile devices become more prevalent, businesses have had to adapt their strategies. Dedicated mobile apps and inclusion on geolocational search apps has been crucial for helping consumers search for local businesses using their mobile devices. How many consumers look for local businesses using mobile devices? And how exactly do they search?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, just 4% of mobile device owners said that they only ever use their mobile devices to search for local businesses. 21% said they use mobile search more often than regular online search. 26% said they use both methods equally. 33% said that they use regular online search more often than mobile search. And 17% of mobile device owners only ever use regular online search when looking for local businesses.
Search by Business
28% of mobile users said that they often use their mobile devices to search for specific local businesses by name. 39% said they sometimes search for local businesses by name. 19% said they rarely search for local businesses by name. And 15% said they never do.
Consumers can also use their mobile devices to search for particular products and then find businesses where those products are sold or even compare prices while out shopping. 22% of mobile users said they often search for specific products using their mobile devices. 34% sometimes search for products on their mobile devices. 26% rarely search for specific products. And 20% said they never do.
Search by Location
One feature of smartphones and other mobile devices that sets them apart is the ability to search for local businesses using your exact physical location. There are a number of apps available that allow users to find types of restaurants or stores near them when they don’t have a specific business in mind. 24% of mobile users said they often use their mobile devices to find businesses of a particular type that are near them. 37% said they sometimes search by type of business. 22% said they rarely search by type of business. And 18% said they never do.
