Open-ended questions are a great way to collect qualitative feedback, gathering respondents’ opinions in their own words. Unfortunately, every once in a while a respondent’s words will be nonsense to you. AYTM to the rescue!

If someone didn’t answer your question, or their answer doesn’t match your question, you have the option of rejecting them. Simply click the "Reject" button at the top of the response, and select a reason from the drop down box.

This will reject all of the respondent’s answers and replace them with a fresh respondent at no extra cost to you. You may reject up to 5% of the open-ended responses for your survey. On the flip side, some respondents go above and beyond, leaving well-thought-out responses; we’ve created a way for you to give those respondents kudos for their extra effort. Click the “Kudos” button, and the note we’ll send to the respondents will appear. Click “Submit,” and we will send the pat on the back to the respondent for their thoughtful response.Keep in mind that once you choose to send a respondent a kudos, you can’t go back and reject that respondent later. Before deciding to “Reject” or give “Kudos,” we recommend that you take a look at all of your open-ended responses first.Featured photo credit: "Reject Do Not Use" by Steve Snodgrass, used under CC BY 2.0 / cropped from original
