Parks and Recreation Survey: More Visit State Parks Regularly

July is National Parks and Recreation Month. So it’s a time for people to celebrate and appreciate the different public parks and activities that are available around the country. From national parks to state and local ones, there are plenty of different options for people to enjoy throughout the summer and even the rest of the year. So how many people take advantage of these park options? And what are their favorites to visit?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 70% of respondents said they generally enjoy visiting public parks. However, just 36% said they visit public parks regularly. 80% think that parks make for great family friendly activities. And 88% think it’s important for parks to be available to the public.

Visiting Parks

When it comes to actually visiting parks, 21% of respondents said they’ve been to multiple state parks in the past year. 23% have visited just one. Even fewer respondents, just 11%, have been to multiple national parks within the last year. And 16% have visited one national park in that time. Looking forward, 41% said they are likely to visit at least one state or national park within the next year.

Favorite Parks

Of course, there are many different parks, both on the state and national levels, for people to visit. The most popular national parks mentioned by respondents include Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon. Some of the most popular state parks mentioned include Hillsborough River State Park in Florida, Allegany State Park in New York and Leavenworth County State Park in Kansas.
