Prime Now Survey: Majority Interested in Quick Shipping Options

Amazon just announced an expansion of its Prime Now service, which offers customers in select cities options for one to two hour shipping on certain items. The service, which just expanded into Seattle and other Washington cities, even allows shoppers to purchase alcohol and have it delivered in that time frame. So how many shoppers are interested in the Prime Now shipping options?

Amazon Shoppers

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 24% of respondents said they currently have a subscription with Amazon Prime. Another 17% said they have in the past, but don’t currently. And 59% have never subscribed to Amazon Prime.

20% of current subscribers said they usually make purchases on Amazon at least once a week. 46% order a few times per month. 17% do so about once per month. 14% said they just order from Amazon a few times per year. 2% rarely place orders. And another 2% never do.

Shipping Time

Amazon Prime’s free two-day shipping is definitely one of the main draws for subscribers. And they seem to appreciate it; 84% of Prime subscribers said they are satisfied with the average shipping time of their Amazon purchases. That’s a bit higher than the satisfaction of online shoppers as a whole. 68% of overall respondents said they are satisfied with the shipping time of their online orders from other websites.

But even though many seem to be satisfied with their current shipping options, that doesn’t mean there’s no room for improvement. 64% of respondents said they would likely shop online more often if they could get items shipped to them within an hour or two. And more specifically, 33% said they would likely order alcohol online if they could get it shipped to them within that time frame.
