RadioShack Survey: Sales May Continue to Drop

RadioShack announced this week that it is closing about half of its retail locations. The chain filed for bankruptcy earlier this month amid slumping sales. And with plenty of specialty tech outlets and online stores, many feel the retailer’s best days are behind it. So what do people think about the RadioShack brand and are they likely to shop there in the future?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 50% said they’ve been in RadioShack stores many times, and 38% have been there once or twice. 36% said they’ve bought products from RadioShack many times, and 43% have made purchases from RadioShack once or twice.

However, much of the trouble for the brand has come in the past few years. And just 11% of those who have ever bought from RadioShack said they have made many purchases in the last two years. 37% said they’ve bought from RadioShack once or twice in the past two years.

Future Sales

Looking forward though, 46% of overall respondents said they would be unlikely to make any purchases from RadioShack within the next two years. Just 30% said they are likely to buy things from RadioShack in the next year or two. And 24% were neutral or completely undecided.

Brand Perception

While the business model might have had some trouble in the past few years, the brand still has a lot of recognition and even some positive perception. In fact, just 14% of respondents said they have a negative opinion of the RadioShack brand. 46% have a positive opinion of the RadioShack brand. And 41% were neutral.
