Snapchat Survey: Privacy Concerns Most Photo Sharers

Snapchat, a new photo and media-sharing app that allows users to share items that expire in a short amount of time, has gained a lot of popularity in recent weeks. Facebook has also released a similar app called Facebook Poke. Are privacy-concerned users interested in these types of apps? And how many already send photos and videos to family and friends?

Sharing Apps

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 3% of respondents said that they have used the Snapchat mobile app. Another 28% said they have used the Facebook Poke app. And 71% have never used either app.

Private Sharing

However, 26% said they often send photos or videos to family and friends via text message, email, or online. 38% said they sometimes share photos and videos with family and friends. 18% said that they rarely do. And 19% said they never share photos or videos with family and friends.

Of those who have shared photos and videos, just 15% said they are very concerned with the privacy of the photos and videos they share. Another 47% said that they are somewhat concerned with privacy. And 38% said that they are not concerned at all with the privacy of these items.

Online Sharing

Just 9% of overall respondents said that they often share photos and videos publicly online. Another 29% said that they sometimes share these media items publicly online. 26% said they rarely share photos and videos online. And 37% said that they never publicly share media items like photos and videos online.
