This Sunday, people all over the country will tune in to watch the Super Bowl. Whether they watch for the game, the commercials or the halftime show, it’s always a huge event. And for advertisers, it’s one of the most important days of the year. So just how many people are planning to watch the Super Bowl or related events on TV this weekend?
Super Bowl Viewers
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 50% of respondents said they will likely watch the Super Bowl this weekend. 51% said they will likely watch the ads that play during the game. 39% said they are likely to watch Super Bowl commercials online, either before or after the game. 45% said they’ll likely watch the halftime show. 29% plan to watch pre-game or post-game coverage. And another 29% plan to watch other Super Bowl related specials such as The Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.
Super Bowl Ads
Commercials have always been a pretty big part of the Super Bowl. Since the event draws so many viewers, slots are at a premium. But are they actually more effective? 49% of overall respondents think that Super Bowl ads are more effective than regular TV ads. Just 15% do not think they are as effective. And 36% were neutral.
In general, 27% of respondents said they watch the Super Bowl every year. 35% said they watch it some years. 16% have tuned in at least once. And 23% said they’ve never watched the Super Bowl before.
And aside from the Super Bowl, just 22% of respondents said they watch football often. 29% said they sometimes watch other football games. 19% rarely do. And 30% said they never watch football.
