Tablet Photography Survey: Users Mostly Satisfied With Camera Quality

Tablet photography may not be the most practical way to take photos, but it’s getting more popular anyway. In fact, Apple just added some new camera features to its full sized iPad for that very reason. So what do people think about the practice of tablet photography? And how many people actually use their tablets to take photos?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 50% of respondents said they currently own a tablet. 19% of those tablet owners said that they often use their tablet camera to take photos. 36% said they sometimes use their tablet to take pictures. 19% said they’ve used their tablet camera at least once or twice. And 26% of tablet owners said they have never used their tablet to take photos.

User Satisfaction

So how do tablet owners feel about using the devices as cameras? 30% of tablet photographers said they find their tablet camera very convenient to use. 46% said that the camera on their tablet is somewhat convenient to use. 18% said that taking pictures with their tablet is somewhat inconvenient. And 6% consider it to be very inconvenient.

And what about the camera quality? Could the new features Apple is adding increase the use of tablet photography? 39% of tablet users said they are already very satisfied with the quality of the camera on their tablet. 44% are somewhat satisfied with their tablet camera quality. 13% said they are somewhat unsatisfied with their tablet camera quality. And just 4% said they are very unsatisfied.

Potential Buyers

So it seems that tablet photography is pretty common among current users. But since only about half of people own one, it could still have the potential to grow. 10% of those who don’t currently own a tablet said they definitely plan to buy one within the next 2 years. 27% said they will probably buy a tablet within the next couple years. 35% said they probably won’t buy a new tablet in that time period. And 28% said they definitely don’t plan to buy a new tablet in the next couple of years.
