Telecommuting Survey: Majority Think Working from Home Will Increase

Lots of workers and businesses are starting to realize the benefits of telecommuting. When employees work from home rather than in an office, it can mean fewer costs for businesses and more flexible schedules for workers. But not everyone is a fan of the whole telecommuting idea. So how many workers have had the opportunity to telecommute? And what do people think about the concept?

Working from Home

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 18% of respondents said they currently work from home all or most of the time. 13% said they currently work from home on occasion. 7% have worked from home often in the past. And 12% said they’ve worked from home on occasion in the past. The remaining 50% of respondents said they’ve never worked from home.

Telecommuters

Of those respondents who have worked from home, 89% said they enjoy being able to do so. 74% said they feel more productive when they work from home. 82% said they think allowing workers to telecommute can be a positive step for businesses. And looking forward, 78% think that more businesses will decide to allow their workers to telecommute within the next few years.

Non-Telecommuters

Of those who haven’t ever telecommuted, 76% said they would like to be able to do so. 63% think they would be more productive at work if they had the option to telecommute. 73% of those who haven’t been able to telecommute think that the concept can be a positive step for businesses. And 67% think that more businesses will decide to allow their workers to telecommute within the next few years.
