Waffles Survey: Several Restaurants Known for Favorite Breakfast Food

This week is known as National Waffle Week. As one of the most popular breakfast foods, waffles have been enjoyed in many different ways and in many different places. Some like to make waffles at home and top them with syrup or fresh fruit, while others might prefer ordering waffles at restaurants as part of a breakfast sandwich or with a side of chicken. So what are the most popular ways for people to enjoy waffles? And what are their favorite brands or restaurants that make them?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 75% of respondents said they have a generally positive opinion of waffles. However, just 2% eat them on a daily basis. 8% said they normally eat waffles a few times per week. Another 8% eat them about once per week. 18% eat them a few times per month. 16% eat them about once per month. 40% said they rarely ever eat waffles. And just 8% never eat them.

When compared to other breakfast foods, waffles ranked near the top; 19% selected them as their top choice of the breakfast foods provided. Only eggs were ranked at the top by more respondents, 28%. Pancakes, bacon, sausage, French toast and cereal were all ranked lower.

Different Varieties

Of the many different ways to enjoy waffles, the classics seem to still be favorites. 76% said they enjoy eating waffles topped with syrup. 20% prefer theirs topped with berries. 11% like them plain. 7% enjoy them with chicken. 5% like it when waffles are used as part of a sandwich. And 6% have other favorite ways to enjoy them, such as with butter, peanut butter or whipped cream.

Favorite Brands

When it comes to buying waffles or waffle ingredients in stores, there’s one clear standout brand. The overwhelming majority of respondents named Eggo as their favorite store brand. But the field was a little bit more competitive when it came to restaurants. Respondents’ favorite restaurants to order waffles include IHOP, Waffle House, Denny’s, Perkins and Bob Evans.
