This year’s MLB World Series is underway, and baseball fans everywhere are gearing up for a week full of great games. How many people really care about the World Series? And how many non-baseball fans will tune in for the excitement?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 50.5% of respondents said they never watch baseball. 9.5% said they watch it all the time, 15.8% watch off and on through the season, 10.3% only watch when their favorite team is playing, 5.3% mostly just watch it during the playoffs, and 8.8% mostly just watch it during The World Series and other major events.
This year, the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals will face off for the title. 65.8% of respondents said they don’t have a preference between the two teams. But 19.8% said they’ll be rooting for the Rangers, and 14.5% said they’ll be rooting for the Cardinals to win it all. Aside from not having a preference in this particular series, 55% of respondents said they don’t have a favorite baseball team at all, and 45% do.
The World Series
This year, 16.3% of respondents said they’ll definitely tune in for the World Series, and 25.5% said they’ll probably catch at least some of it. The remaining 58.3% aren’t really interested.
Though the World Series isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, it still draws in a lot of sports fans from around the country. They’ll be watching eagerly to see which team will win Major League Baseball’s biggest honor.
