Yahoo CEO Survey: Americans Optimistic About New CEO

This week, Yahoo announced its new CEO, Marissa Mayer. Americans immediately began calling out to the new CEO asking her to turn around some of Yahoo’s services and features that many feel have been lacking in recent years. Can Marissa Mayer really turn the company around? What do American consumers think about the new Yahoo CEO and about Yahoo as a company?


Yahoo Services

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 66% of respondents said they have used Yahoo search at some point. 77% said they have used Yahoo email. 16% have used Flickr. And 23% have used other Yahoo services. Just 10% said they’ve never used any Yahoo services.

However, those numbers have dropped a bit. Only 43% of respondents said they currently use Yahoo search. 67% use Yahoo email. 9% use Flickr. And 14% use other Yahoo services.

Consumer Opinions

Overall, 27% of consumers said they have a very positive opinion of Yahoo as a company. 32% said they have a somewhat positive opinion of Yahoo. 34% said they are neutral or have no opinion. 5% said they have a somewhat negative opinion of Yahoo. And just 2% said they have a very negative opinion of Yahoo. Those who have used Yahoo services were more likely to have a positive opinion of the company.

And what about the future of Yahoo? 12% of survey takers said they definitely think the new CEO will have a positive impact on the company. 42% said they think the new CEO will probably help Yahoo make a comeback. 9% said she probably won’t help Yahoo make a comeback. And only 1% said they definitely don’t think she will help Yahoo make a comeback. 36% had no opinion.
