Yahoo Survey: Majority Still Use Some Services

Tech giant Yahoo has been struggling for years to raise profits and remain a major player in the industry. There are even rumors that the company will be sold or reorganized in some way. But it still provides a number of different online platforms and services that consumers can use. So how many still use any of those Yahoo services? And what do people generally think about the brand?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 50% of respondents said that they currently have a Yahoo email account, while 61% said they’ve used Yahoo email at some point. 33% currently use Yahoo’s search engine, while 47% have used it in the past. 10% currently use Tumblr, the social media/microblogging site owned by Yahoo, and 15% have used it in the past. And 6% currently use photo sharing site Flickr, while 10% have used it in the past. Overall, 32% of respondents said that they don’t currently use any Yahoo platforms or services, and just 23% have never used any.

Future Use

Looking forward, it seems that most current users plan on sticking with their current platforms. 50% said that they plan to use Yahoo email in the future. 33% plan to use the search engine. 15% plan on using Tumblr in the future. 9% said they are likely to use Flickr. And 30% said that they aren’t likely to use any Yahoo services moving forward.

Brand Perception

In general, 49% said that they have at least a somewhat positive opinion of the Yahoo brand. Just 10% said they have a negative opinion of the brand. And 49% are neutral. Those who have ever used Yahoo services were more likely to have positive opinions of the brand. And those who currently used those services were even more likely to have positive opinions.
