Social Gaming Survey: Single Player Games Still Most Popular

The internet has opened the door for a whole new world of gaming. People can now communicate with others around the world while playing their favorite games. And they don’t even need dedicated gaming systems to do so. Social media platforms like Facebook also host social games that have become very popular. How many are already taking part in social gaming? And how many are interested?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 31% of respondents said that they often play games online. 33% said they sometimes play online games. 16% rarely do. And 20% said they never play any games online.

However, of those who play games online, just 8% said that they always interact with others while doing so. 18% said they play social games most of the time. 14% play social games about half the time. 31% said they rarely play social games. And 29% said they never do.

Game Types

More specifically, 58% of those who play online games said they play single player video games. 41% said they play games on social networking sites. 34% said they play multi player video games. 30% said they play mobile games. And 8% play other types of online games such as puzzle and word games.

New Games

Overall, 20% of respondents said they are very interested in learning about new online games. 31% said they are somewhat interested. 27% said they are not really interested. And 22% are not interested at all. Of those who already play online games, 62% are interested in learning about new ones. And of those who don’t already play online games, just 7% are interested in learning about new ones.
