The Brands We Drive

The United States is home to the largest passenger vehicle market of any country. According to the most recent data from The U.S. Department of Transportation and The U.S. Bureau of Transit Statistics, there are currently over 254 million registered passenger vehicles on American roads, and each year an average of 16.7 million new cars are sold.

To gain a better understanding on the current state of the American consumers’ relationship with their automobile, AYTM conducted DIY market research utilizing our online consumer panel and survey tool. The highlights of our discoveries are encapsulated in this infographic:

Terrible graphics. Just use pie charts and bar charts for this sort of thing. They communicate better.

Sorry to hear you didn’t like the infographic, we have gotten a lot of positive feedback on this one and the others we have done. Good thing we included the report with pie charts :-)

I rather enjoyed the graphics.  It takes many metrics and communicates them in an interesting ‘un-stuffy’ way.  Some measurables might seem ‘trivial’, but overall, it’s a good look into some recent attitudes of car buyers / owners.

I’m curious about the distinction between hatchbacks and economy cars. Where does a VW Golf fit in? A Kia Rio?
