Apple Music Survey: Current Customers Likely to Use New Service

Apple is in the process of launching its new Apple Music streaming service. The service, which is basically just a rebranding of the Beats Music service that the company bought last year, will compete directly with major players like Spotify and Pandora. So how might the new service stack up in terms of customers? And how might Apple’s existing customer base impact the success of its new service?

Music Streaming

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 49% of respondents said they currently use music streaming services. 35% said that Pandora is their music streaming service of choice. 17% use Spotify. 14% use iHeartRadio. 4% use Rdio. And 6% use other music streaming services such as Amazon Prime or iTunes Radio.

And it seems that most of those streaming customers are satisfied with their current streaming services. Looking forward, just 19% of respondents said they are likely to sign up for a new music streaming service within the next year. And many of those respondents don’t currently subscribe to any streaming services.

Apple Customers

Since the new Apple Music will come pre-loaded on Apple devices like iPhones and Macbooks, the amount of people who own and buy such products is likely to have an impact on the success of the new service. Currently, 23% of respondents said they own multiple Apple products. Another 22% own one Apple product. And in general, 52% of respondents said they have a positive opinion of Apple as a brand.

However, when it comes to the new service, it seems that those positive opinions might not translate into actual users. Just 22% of overall respondents said they are likely to use the new Apple Music streaming service. But that is actually more than the amount of people who expressed interest in signing up for any new music streaming services in the next year. Of course, many of those were already Apple customers.
