Fast food restaurants continue to gain popularity even while some consumers are focusing more and more on health and organic options. The convenience of drive-thrus in particular is something that keeps customers coming back to places like McDonald’s and Taco Bell again and again. Since today is National Drive-Thru day, we asked customers what they think about drive-thrus and fast food restaurants in general.
Fast Food Customers
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 4% of overall respondents said they eat fast food pretty much every day. 15% eat it a few times per week. 18% eat it about once per week. 25% said they usually eat fast food a few times per month. 12% just eat it about once per month. 22% said they rarely ever eat at fast food restaurants. And just 4% never do. Of those who patronize fast food restaurants at least on occasion, 10% only go inside the restaurants to order and/or eat their food. Another 25% said they prefer to go inside, but go through drive-thrus on occasion. 25% have no preference between the two. 34% said they prefer to go through drive-thrus whenever possible. And 6% said they only ever go through drive-thrus.
Drive-Thru Restaurants
When it comes to fast food restaurants with drive-thrus, the big names tend to have the market pretty well saturated. McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell and Wendy’s were named respondents’ favorite drive-thru restaurants. Others mentioned include Arby’s, Chic-Fil-A, Whataburger and KFC.
Customer Satisfaction
There are several different reasons why customers might choose to go to drive-thru restaurants over other eateries. Convenience seems to be the biggest reason. 81% of respondents said they are satisfied with the convenience factor of drive-thru restaurants. 69% said they’re satisfied with the price at most fast food restaurants. 71% are satisfied with the variety of menu items. But just 45% are satisfied with the amount of healthy options at drive-thru restaurants.
