Dr. Dre is reportedly selling his Beats Electronics brand to Apple for a rather large sum of money. The tech company would not only give Apple the ability to sell the brand’s popular products, including headphones and speakers, but also access to an existing music streaming service it can brand and grow. What do people think about the acquisition and about the Beats brand?
Apple Acquisition
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 36% of respondents said they had already heard about Apple’s acquisition of Beats Electronics. Of those respondents, 29% definitely think it was a good move by Apple. 54% think that the acquisition of Beats will probably prove to be a positive move for Apple. 13% think it probably won’t. And 3% think the acquisition will definitely not be a good move for Apple.
Beats Brand
So just how big of an impact has Beats Electronics made on consumers so far? 18% of overall respondents said they have used Beats headphones. 6% have used Beats speakers. And 4% have used Beats Music, the company’s online music streaming service. 78% said they have never used any products or services from Beats Electronics.
Music Streaming
The music streaming service is probably the one aspect that stands to grow the most under Apple. Currently, 18% of respondents said they often stream music online using services similar to Beats Music. 31% said they sometimes stream music online. 19% said they rarely stream music.
