The once popular social media platform Myspace is trying to make a comeback as more of a social entertainment site. But will the site’s former image help or hinder its future? And how many are interested in the entertainment features of the new Myspace?
Myspace Users
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 47% of respondents said that they had a Myspace account in the past. Now, just 4% said they have signed up for the new Myspace. Another 4% said that they definitely plan to sign up. 23% said they might consider signing up for an account at some point. And 70% of respondents said that they aren’t interested in signing up for the new Myspace. Of those who either have signed up or definitely plan to, 71% said they already had a Myspace account.
Social Media Preferences
Overall, 15% of respondents said that they use many different social media sites. 66% said they use just one or two social media sites. And 20% said they don’t use any social media sites. 18% of social media users said they would be more likely to sign up for a brand new social media site than they would be to sign up for a revamped site trying to make a comeback. Just 9% said they would be more likely to sign up for a revamped social media site than a new one. 48% said it makes no difference to them. And 25% said they aren’t interested in signing up for any additional social media sites.
Musical Sharing
As far as Myspace’s entertainment and musical integrations, 17% of respondents said they are definitely interested in sharing their musical choices and preferences with their social networks. 38% said they are somewhat interested in sharing their musical choices on social media.
