Pizza Survey: Pizza Hut, Papa John's Named Top Brands

Today is National Pizza Day, a holiday that celebrates one of America’s favorite foods – pizza. With so many different types, brands, toppings and other factors to choose from, there are seemingly endless ways for people to enjoy this versatile food. So what do people generally think about pizza? And what are their favorite ways for people to enjoy it?

Pizza Eaters

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 87% of respondents said that they have a positive opinion of pizza. Just 4% said they don’t really like it. And 9% are neutral in their opinions about pizza. In fact, 3% of respondents said they even eat pizza at least once every day. 9% eat it a few times per week. 23% eat it about once per week. 48% eat it a few times per month. 16% said that they rarely ever eat pizza. And just 3% said they never eat it.

Favorite Toppings

There are plenty of different toppings that people can get on their pizzas. Cheese and pepperoni were named top choices by respondents. 59% named pepperoni as one of their favorite pizza toppings. 57% said they like extra cheese. 50% like sausage. 45% like mushrooms. 45% like onions. 43% like peppers. 39% like bacon. 32% like ham. Just 5% like anchovies. And 15% named other favorite toppings such as olives, chicken, pineapples, and just plain cheese.

Favorite Brands

Pizza Hut and Papa John’s were named as America’s top two favorite pizza brands, according to respondents. Domino’s, Little Ceasar’s and California Pizza Kitchen were also named as favorite restaurants or carry out businesses. Store brands like Digiorno’s, Red Baron and Totinos were also popular among respondents.
