A few smartphone companies are working on innovations that could improve battery life and decrease charging time on select devices. While those factors have improved over the years, it’s been difficult for some companies to keep up while still providing useful features for customers. So how many consumers take smartphone battery life and charging time into account when making purchases? And what are the companies that currently have the most satisfied customers in that area?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 67% of respondents said that they currently own a smartphone. Of those smartphone owners, 39% said they own a Samsung device. 29% have an iPhone. 16% have a LG. 4% have a Windows phone. Another 4% have a HTG. 3% each have a Google phone, BlackBerry and Nokia. 1% have a Sony device. And 15% have other types of smartphones.
In general, 64% of smartphone owners said they are at least somewhat satisfied with their phone’s battery life. And 75% are satisfied with the time it takes to charge their device. People who own Samsung devices were slightly less likely to be satisfied with battery life, but slightly more likely to be satisfied with charging time. And iPhone owners were more likely to be satisfied with their phone’s battery life, but less likely to be satisfied with charging time.
Overall, 92% of smartphone owners said they consider battery life to be an important factor when considering a new smartphone purchase. 85% consider charging time to be an important consideration. 66% said they would even pay a bit more for a cell phone that has a longer battery life.
