This Week is National Motorcycle Week, a designation created to celebrate motorcycle riders and raise awareness for bike safety. Motorcycles have been around for years, and popular with some select groups. But there are still some safety concerns. So how many choose to ride motorcycles regularly? And how many are likely to do so in the future?
Motorcycle Riders
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 2% of respondents said they actually own multiple motorcycles. Another 4% own one. 9% said that while they don’t currently own one, they have at some point in the past. And 85% said they have never owned a motorcycle. Males were 2% more likely to own motorcycles. And respondents over 45 were 3% more likely to have owned one in the past.
General Interest
Of those who don’t currently have one, 26% did say that they are generally interested in motorcycles. 55% were uninterested. And 19% were neutral about them. Looking forward, 15% of respondents who don’t currently own a motorcycle said they would be likely to buy one at some point in the future. Those respondents were also more likely to be male and under the age of 35.
Favorite Brands
There are plenty of different providers to choose from when it comes to buying a motorcycle. Respondents who either own or are interested in motorcycles seem to be most drawn to the Harley Davidson brand. Other favorite brands mentioned include Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki. You can view the complete survey results in the widget below and be sure to click “Open Full Report” to take advantage of all the chart and filter options.Photo Credit: Motorcycle in action. from FlickrWhat do you want to know?
