October is National Seafood month. And while there are some people who really don’t enjoy any kind of seafood, it’s still a very popular category among shops and restaurants throughout the world. So what are people’s thoughts on fish, shrimp, lobster and other favorites? And what are their favorite places to get their seafood favorites?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 72% of respondents said they have a generally positive opinion of seafood. In fact, 5% said they usually eat seafood every day. 17% said they eat it a few times per week. 16% do so about once a week. 33% eat it a few times per month. 21% said they rarely ever eat seafood. And just 10% never do.
There are, of course, so many different types of seafood for people to eat. But shrimp was the standout favorite, with 70% naming it as one of their favorite types of seafood. 60% said they like fish such as tilapia, cod and salmon. 49% enjoy crab. 41% like lobster. 29% like scallops. 18% enjoy eating oysters. And 7% had other favorites, such as clams and calamari.
In terms of restaurants, Red Lobster stands out as respondents’ overall favorite for seafood. Others mentioned include Joe’s Crab Shack, Long John Silvers and various sushi restaurants. And others mentioned store brands such as SeaPak and Chicken of the Sea.
