June 12 is known as Superman Day, a holiday that celebrates the Man of Steel, one of the most popular superheroes in history. So just how does Superman stack up against other superheroes? There have been so many different movies and other superhero products popping up over the past few years. So how many people consider themselves to be superhero fans? And where does Superman fit in with their favorites?
Favorite Superheroes
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 39% of respondents named Superman as their favorite superhero out of a list of big names, making it the top name on that list. Batman was widely considered to be people’s second favorite superhero, followed by Spiderman and Wonder Woman. Respondents ranked The Hulk, Thor, and Wolverine as their bottom three among the superheroes we tested.
Superhero Movies
Superhero fans have had several different opportunities to see some of their favorite characters on the big screen. And those movies are likely to keep coming due to their big box office numbers. Over the past year, 36% said they’ve seen multiple superhero movies. Another 20% said they’ve seen one superhero movie this year. And looking forward, 47% said they are likely to go see at least one superhero movie within the coming year.
Superhero Merchandise
But there is also plenty of other superhero merchandise available for purchase, from t-shirts to comic books. It seems that these items aren’t quite as popular though. Just 12% said they’ve purchased multiple superhero related items within the last year. And 11% have bought just one. But 23% said they are likely to purchase superhero merchandise within the next year. You can view the complete survey results in the widget below and be sure to click “Open Full Report” to take advantage of all the chart and filter options.Photo Credit: Superman Blue: Electric Boogaloo from FlickrWhat do you want to know?
