Sushi Survey: Grocery Stores, Local Restaurants Are Favorites for Sushi

Today is International Sushi Day. The Japanese style cuisine has gained a lot of popularity in the US over the past several years. But it’s been a staple of many diets throughout the world for even longer. There are so many different types of sushi, along with places to buy it. So what are people’s favorite types and restaurants? And how many go out of their way to enjoy sushi regularly?

Sushi Opinions

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 32% of respondents said they have a positive opinion of sushi. 44% have a negative opinion of the food. And 23% are neutral about it, or haven’t ever actually tried eating sushi before.

Eating Habits

55% of respondents said they never really eat sushi. 20% rarely eat it. 12% said they eat it about once per month. 7% eat it a few times per month. And just 6% said they eat sushi at least once a week.Of those who at least sometimes eat sushi, 41% said they have a favorite type that they usually order. Some of the most common favorites include tuna rolls, California rolls and salmon rolls.

Stores and Restaurants

There are also plenty of places for people to buy and/or eat their favorite types of sushi. Some respondents said they normally buy their sushi from grocery stores like Kroger, Publix and Trader Joe’s. And others gravitate toward local restaurants and bars.
