Take Your Child to Work Day Survey: Children Can Benefit from Visiting Workplaces

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, sometimes known as Take Your Child to Work Day, is an annual day where parents can bring their children to their workplaces and teach them a bit about different potential careers. It hasn’t been an official holiday for long, so some have yet to take advantage of it. Do people think that Take Our Daughters and Sons Day can be beneficial? And how many plan to participate this year?

Current Participants

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 21% of respondents said they currently have a child under the age of 18. Of those respondents, 28% said they are likely to participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day with their kids this year. 53% said they are unlikely to participate this year. And 18% are completely unsure.

Past Participants

In the past, just 7% of parents said they have participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day many times. 21% said they’ve participated just once or twice. And 72% of parents have never participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. In addition, just 4% of overall respondents said they’ve participated in Take Your Child to Work Day as a child many times. 11% said went to at least one Take Your Child to Work Day during childhood. And 85% never participated as children.

Potential Benefits

Some people think that Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, along with just generally informing children about different career paths and workplace culture, can have a positive impact both on children and adults. In general, 80% agree that allowing children to experience real workplaces can have a positive impact on them. And 70% believe it can also have a positive impact on workplace culture.
