It’s gluten-free baking week. Gluten-free foods in general have gained a lot of popularity over the last couple of years. And with the holiday season in full swing, it’s a popular time for many people to bake their favorite treats to share with family and friends. So how many plan to partake in gluten-free baking? And what are their favorite gluten-free treats?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 4% of respondents said that they only ever eat gluten-free food. 6% eat gluten free most of the time. 13% said they do so about half the time. 36% said they rarely ever eat gluten-free food. 29% never do. And 13% were unsure. Just 19% of those who eat gluten free at least half of the time said they have to because of an allergy or health condition. 69% said they do so because they consider gluten-free food to be generally healthier. 17% said they eat it because sometimes it’s just the cheapest or most convenient option for them. And 9% cited other reasons, such as having a close family member who needs to eat gluten free.
Overall, 16% of respondents said that they are likely to do some gluten-free baking over the upcoming holiday season. 69% of those respondents are likely to bake cookies. 48% plan to bake brownies. 38% are likely to bake gluten-free cakes. 37% plan to make cupcakes. Another 37% plan to make pies. And 6% plan to bake other types of gluten-free treats, like cobblers and puddings.
There are plenty of different food brands that offer various gluten-free baking ingredients.
