Made in the USA Survey: About Half Will Pay Extra for American Manufacturing

As people across the country prepare to celebrate Independence Day, another patriotic holiday is also taking place this week. Today is Made in the USA Day, a holiday that celebrates the companies and brands that manufacture their products in the states. American manufacturing has been a hot topic for years, and one that many consumers consider to be very important. So how many will go out of their way to buy American made products? And what are their favorite brands that produce those items?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 73% of respondents said that it’s important to them to buy products that are made in America. 51% said they will actually pay higher prices in some cases to buy those American made products. However, there aren’t always a lot of options when it comes to buying those products. So just 45% said that most of the products they buy are made in America.

Types of Products

When it comes to choosing American made products, it seems that some types of products are more important than others. 67% said that it’s important to them to buy food products that are made in America. 54% try to buy American made clothing and accessories. 45% prefer to buy appliances, furniture and home items that were made in the USA. 43% prefer American made automobiles. 33% try to buy tech gadgets that were made in America. And 6% try to buy other types of American made products like supplements and dog food. Just 15% said they don’t go out of their way to buy any kinds of American made products.

American Brands

More specifically, some iconic American brands have worked to get their products made in America, though some also produce products abroad.
